At My Generation Energy, we believe that sustainable energy and community involvement go hand-in-hand. That’s why we were thrilled to participate in the recent Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build in Dennis, where local businesses and volunteers came together to to build a Habitat Cape Cod home that will be purchased by a local family with an affordable mortgage. This event allowed us to not only contribute to a vital cause but also demonstrate how solar energy can play a key role in building a more sustainable and supportive community.
What Is the Habitat Blitz Build?
The Habitat Blitz Build is an initiative organized by Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Cape Cod (HBRACC) for Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod. It’s an intense, collaborative event where volunteers and contractors work together to build one home for one family in just one week. This year’s Blitz Build focused on Dennis, where a a local family will soon be able to move into safe, affordable housing. Habitat homes don’t just represent a fresh start for families—they also symbolize the power of community coming together for a greater good.
Our Role: Bringing Solar Energy to the Blitz Build
As a company rooted in sustainability, My Generation Energy was excited to offer our expertise in renewable energy to the Blitz Build. We installed solar panels on the blitz build as well as on several of the newly constructed homes, ensuring that these families will not only benefit from affordable housing but also from reduced energy costs over the long term.
Why is this so important? Energy costs are often a significant portion of a family’s budget, especially in Massachusetts, where heating and electricity bills can soar during the colder months. By incorporating solar energy into these homes, Habitat for Humanity is helping families cut those costs while contributing to a cleaner environment.
The Power of Solar for Affordable Housing
Our mission has always been to make solar energy accessible to everyone in Southeastern Massachusetts, and that includes those living in affordable housing. Solar energy provides significant long-term savings, reduces dependence on nonrenewable energy sources, and creates a more sustainable future for everyone.
For the families moving into these homes, the impact will be immediate:
- Lower utility bills: Solar energy reduces the amount of electricity needed from the grid, leading to significant savings each month.
- Long-term energy savings: With solar panels installed, these families will benefit from reliable energy cost reductions year after year, helping to stabilize their budgets and plan for the future.
- Environmental benefits: By choosing solar, the families will reduce their carbon footprint, contributing to a cleaner Cape Cod for generations to come.
Building a Brighter Future for Cape Cod
The Habitat Blitz Build is just one example of how My Generation Energy is committed to giving back to our community. We’re proud to support Habitat for Humanity’s Blitz Build by donating the solar energy system, continuing a tradition from last year’s event. This commitment to affordable, clean energy reflects our ongoing partnership with Habitat for Humanity, as we’ve provided solar installations at favorable rates for over 50 Habitat projects across Cape Cod and the South Coast. By helping to power these homes sustainably, we aim to reduce energy costs for Habitat families and contribute to a healthier environment for our local communities.
We know that the future of Cape Cod depends on both the strength of its community and the health of its environment. By making solar power a central part of projects like the Blitz Build, we’re doing our part to ensure a brighter future for all.
